Delete your account

Last updated: October 13, 2026

The short version

  • Signed in: Settings → Security → Delete Account, on the web. In the phone app: Settings → Delete account.
  • Cannot sign in: write to hello@rudopo.app from your account's email address.
  • Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Take a backup first.
  • Spaces you own are deleted for everyone in them. You leave spaces you do not own.
  • A pseudonymised record that a free trial was used is kept for 12 months. Payment records stay with the payment provider.

1. How to delete your account

Sign in and do it yourself, or write to us if you cannot sign in.

Sign in and delete. Open Settings → Security → Delete Account. You are asked to type a confirmation, and offered a full backup first.

Request by email. If you cannot sign in, write to hello@rudopo.app from the email address on your Rudopo account. We reply from hello@rudopo.app, to the address on the account, and ask you to confirm before anything is deleted. We answer within one month at the latest. Once you confirm, we run the same deletion the app does.

In the phone app. Settings → Delete account.

2. What is deleted

Everything in your account, from our database, at once.

  • Every space you own, with its budget, accounts, transactions, categories, targets and assignments, payees, labels, rules, reminders, recurring schedules, loan details, reconciliations, what-if items and saved categories.
  • Import history, saved import mappings, and any backup or import file still being uploaded.
  • Sharing: the invitations you sent, and your membership of every space, your own and other people's.
  • Your profile, preferences, consent records, activity history and usage counters.
  • Your API tokens and the phones registered for notifications.
  • The help requests you sent from inside the app, with their screenshots and replies.
  • Our own copy of your subscription status, billing events and refunds, and the record of the emails we sent you.
  • Your sign-in identity and every signed-in session.

An active subscription is cancelled as part of the deletion, in the app or by email, so it does not renew.

3. Shared spaces

Your own spaces go for everyone in them. Other people's spaces stay.

  • A space you own is deleted with everything in it, for every member. They lose access to it at the same moment.
  • A space someone else owns is not deleted. You are removed from it, and what you entered there stays in that space for its owner and other members.

4. How long it takes

It happens when you confirm. It cannot be undone.

Deletion in the app is immediate. There is no waiting period, no queue and no way to cancel it once confirmed, and we cannot restore a deleted account. A request by email is carried out once you have confirmed it from the account's address.

5. What is kept, and why

A short list, each item with its reason.

  • A record that a free trial was used. It holds a keyed hash of your email address (not the address itself), the trial's start and end dates, and the payment provider's customer and subscription identifiers, so that a free trial cannot be repeated. It is erased 12 months after the account is deleted.
  • Payment records held by Dodo Payments. Dodo Payments is the merchant of record: it took the payments, issued the receipts and keeps those records under its own terms. Rudopo never held your card details.
  • Our staff record of a refund, a payment dispute or a cancellation that failed, if there was one. It names the account by an internal identifier only, with the payment reference and the amount. It is the audit trail of what our staff did, and it is how a dispute is resolved and fraud is prevented.
  • Backup copies of the database. Our database provider keeps rolling point-in-time recovery copies, and we take a full copy before a risky change and delete it when the change is complete. A copy made before your deletion can hold your data until that copy is itself deleted.
  • Emails you sent us. Email is kept separately as ordinary business correspondence. Ask and we erase it.
  • Server logs and fault reports. They expire on our hosting and monitoring providers' own schedules.
  • Backup and export files you downloaded. They are files on your own device. We cannot reach them and deleting your account does not remove them.

The full schedule is section 9 of the Privacy Policy, which is the operative text.
